Maalt, LP (“Maalt”), announced today that it has commenced commercial operations in Big Lake, TX, the newest addition to its terminal network. The Big Lake terminal, which sits on 205 acres, is located on the Texas Pacifico Railroad and is Maalt’s 12th terminal. Texas Pacifico will offer both unit train and manifest rail service to the terminal. Phase I of the project includes approximately 10,000 feet of rail track, which will be used for rail-to-truck frac sand transloading services. Maalt also has Phase II plans to develop a loop track and Phase III plans to add silo storage.
“We are excited to announce that we received our first 75-car unit train from Vista Sand on Saturday, March 12. We built Big Lake based on feedback from our customers. At Maalt, we know the energy business changes on a daily basis. That is why it has always been our focus to react quickly to customers’ needs. Over the past ten years, we have grown from two terminals in Fort Worth, Texas to an extensive network of strategically positioned frac sand transload and storage terminals covering the shale plays of Texas and Oklahoma,” said Marty Robertson, President of Maalt. “This location is ideally positioned to serve the Wolfcamp Shale within the Midland Basin and should result in reduced logistics costs for sand delivered to the well for our customers. We see Big Lake being a terminal that will remain busy for many years to come.”
