For those of us in the industry, this has been constantly at the forefront of our minds since 4Q21, but the shortage keeps on building up. Sand shortages are putting the harness on operators looking to capitalize on the highest oil prices since 2014. NPT is increasing, and the question is “where can I get sand?”

Rystad Researcher Artem Abramov called current prices for frack sand "unheard of in the industry's modern history."
Private oil producers are leading an industry return to places like the Anadarko Basin of Oklahoma and the DJ Basin in Colorado, where drilling had almost completely stopped in mid-2020 when those areas became unprofitable because of lower oil prices.
