Two big frac sand M&A announcements this week and both in NWS space (had to rewrite this after hours last night just to get you the breaking news)

  1. Iron Oak Energy absorbs another sand operation: HC Minerals. While some of you may not recognize the name, this was Hi-Crush’s NWS operations including their extensive Appalachian terminal network. Iron Oak CEO Michael Segura commented on their team’s commitment to being “a leading multi-basin proppant supplier”, and clearly they are diversifying well across the United States.
  2. Badger Mining Corp acquires the second 50% control of AMI Silica for complete ownership of the NWS operation. This move cements Badger’s commitment to supplying NWS to the Canadian market. Not only does this include full control of the Hixton mine, but also AMI’s transload operations throughout Alberta/BC. With the 3rd Canadian Sand Summit coming up in less than two months, you know this will be a big topic of conversation.

Other highlights this week:

  1. Not to mention that Iron Oak Energy has officially become our first Platinum Sponsor for November’s Frac Sand Conference.
  2. Sponsorships are starting to fill up for November over the past week: Meridian Manufacturing (GOLD), Smart Sand (GOLD), and FEECO International (SILVER)
  3. Want to weigh in on the agenda for November’s Conference? Take our 4 question survey to make our event more valuable to you (I bet you can finish in 37 seconds)!
  4. Also, in other M&A news, a major NE regional rail player gets acquired (we’ll see how this affects NWS prices to the region).

Fill up that coffee mug, and let’s dig into the latest.

And now, the news…
