Those interested in opening a frac sand mine (or existing mines looking for additional capacity) should be aware of two opportunities in Kermit, Texas:
3000 acres for Sale
Just back on the market. Up to 3000 acres available on Highway 15, between two producing sand mines. Site has an agreement for an easement of an on-ramp to Highway 115 and the rights to use utility easements (which would save the buyer both time and money). Testing from the site is available upon request. Surface and water rights convey with the property. Competitively priced and should move quickly.
Up to 10,000 acres for Lease
Owners of about 10,000 acres off of Highway 115 are interested in leasing all or part of their property. Property has highway frontage off 115 with close access to highway 128. The opportunity to mine the sand and/or increase current sand production (air permit) is very good with this property. The owners are looking to lease out 1000-2000 acres per entity or they are open to leasing the entire property depending upon the needs of interested parties. The water is owned by the owners and accessible to the sand producers at no additional charge. Owners have been told their sand consists of a 12K Crush value along with 7K, 8K, 9K, like the other mines in Kermit have. The property is being tested and core drilled, and the results will be available soon. This property is part of the Kermit Sand Dunes which is part of that sand vein that is west of highway 115.
With little property left in the area with high quality in-basin sand, these two opportunities will not last long.
